Re: [disklavier] Which MIDI format sound best on Mark III

2008-10-16 by athomik

The Mark IV has XG voices (self-explanotory) and AWM (Advanced Wave Memory, which is the sampled piano sound). It hasn't got the TG voice set, but it does have AEM (Articulated Element Modelling) voices, which is set of Yamaha specific, high quality sounds which are a form of sample based synthesis which gives extra scope for expression. These voices can be accessed in the Performance mode. Although this hasn't really been pushed by Yamaha yet, eventually there should be more voices available, which can be loaded via CD.
