I learn something new everyday!  I believe that MIDI information is 
generating that sound coming from the audio output on the "silent" mode 
because it is using data from the key sensors, but the sound itself is 
coming from the MN board, not the XG sound board in the control box.  Does 
this output (the instrumental sounds) sound as good as the Disklavier sounds 
coming through the speakers?

Wouldn't you be better off recording these DK performances to floppy or 
memory, playing them back and recording them with a microphone plugged into 
a soundcard on a computer, and creating wave files?

What kind of file is generated using the MN board?
