RE: [disklavier] DC3 Pro Key Sensor Question

2009-09-24 by athomik

On the Disklavier (apart from an actual fault in the sensor assembly), the LEDs in the sensors can deteriorate with age, which affects the response of the keys/hammers. Dust and foreign materials can also have a similar effect. Another thing which affects the response is any work done on the keys or action. If you come across this problem, and as a matter of routine after any action/key work, you should run through the calibration procedure. Check with Yamaha regarding how to run this procedure (not sure where Yamaha in the US stand with regard to giving out information about test procedures). If you still have a problem after re-calibrating the piano, you need to get an engineer to have a look.
