Re: [disklavier] Was Re: Network Settings, now Pianosoft quaility

2009-12-10 by Kevin Goroway

Phil, I couldn't agree more re: the overall quality of the songs in the pianosoft library.

Yamaha does have an "original artist series" which tends do be much better (because it's the original artist!)

Unfortunately, I haven't found a good way to *search* for titles in that series on their web site!

Anyway, I don't think any of it would qualify as "pop", but the songs haven't been reduced down to "muzak" versions, at least.

I am also glad to hear this, lets hope it's done properly.

I wonder if anyone else is dissapointed with the way songs are recorded. It seems that only a small handful of pianosoft with audio is actually "live" such as sue downs and tom zink... but otherwise well known artist's like Elton John's recordings are just complete rubbish played by someone else (and badley)... and they keep on going on about this "red piano" that he played live... but... you don't get any live performances. Also Diana Krall songs are increidablly horrible... none are actually played by Diana... the list goes on... even Burt Bacharach classics sound pretty lame.

Otherwise most disklavier pianosoft + audio songs are by unknown artists..

I am also annoyed at so many songs that are just so souless, the whole 'beat' is just so strict and boring.

Just to continue my winge, why can't anyone at yamaha bother to play a POP song just a bit more suitable for the piano.... come on! i mean most pop songs (on the disklavier radio mostly) are just so spammy, its like a big mobil phone tune with the piano playing along... they don't even try and have a piano only romantic version of any pop songs...

And I am not interested in those ridiculous live songs on the piano radio, not nice music to listen to, just intence dramatic classicical stuff... boring. Has yamaha got anything "live" other than boring classical stuff?

Oh well, i'll just have to record my own songs :)

ofcorse I am more than happy to pay good $$ per song for anyone who is willing to recoring nice pop songs :)

Cheers,

Philip

Beautiful song, Mark. Thanks for sharing. If you find out that this is on a CD that will play with the PianoSoft system, please let me (us) know!

Has anybody seen the Celtic Woman performance on PBS? It appears that
Music Director David Downes is playing a Yamaha Disklavier. There is a
sample of this performance at http://www.celticwo man.com/trellis/ The_Music

Nice to see a Disklavier used for a major performance. It will be nice
to see a CD of this music for the Disklavier.
