Good evening, everyone. Leon, you need to think of the Disklavier as a MIDI device that has a split personality: it is both a piano and a tone generator. When you send MIDI data to the Disklavier, the Disklavier has to decide whether to play the data with the piano or with its internal or external tone generator. To make the incoming data play on the piano, you need to access the MIDI : Piano Part screen and set the Disklavier's Piano Receive channel. In the simplest situation, set the Receive Channel to 1. Having set the piano's Receive Channel to 1, you need to look at your settings in Finale and set the MIDI Output of the piano part to MIDI channel 1. It appears as though you have set Finale to send the piano part on Channel 1. Have you set the Disklavier to receive on Channel 1? The problem: piano with Disklavier DKC100R will not play a song coming from Finale 2011. Some background: I'm new to the midi process, but have done considerable homework. Here's what I've done to solve the problem: purchased a midi interface (Cakewalk by Roland UM-1G) installed drivers, connected the UM-1G to the MacBook Pro laptop and to the disklavier DKC 100R, performed a midi test (pushed the test button on side of UM-1G unit and the piano played a note). Referred to the Yamaha Advanced Operation Manual (disklavier II) Chapter 15 pg 97, "Using the Disklavier Piano with a MIDI Sequencer" performed steps 1-9 in Disklavier control unit DKC100R. In Finale 2011 > Midi/Audio > Device Setup > Midi/Internal Speaker Setup with the following: Midi System - CoreMidi, Playback - Midi System, Input - UM-1G, Output - UM-1G, Receive Midi Sync From - UM-1G, Send Midi Sync To - UM-1G. In Finale 2011 > Windows > Instrument List with the following: Staff 1 - Grand Piano - Channel 1, Staff 2 - Grand Piano - Channel 1. Mute None, No Solo. > With the above setup and connected to an electric keyboard (unrelated to the Disklavier and piano) the song plays, but for some reason I can't get the Disklavier settings and/or other combination of settings to facilitate play back on the piano. I would greatly appreciate any advice that could be provided - I'm at the end of my rope. Leon >
