Re: [disklavier] Mark4 Jumping to Synth after a while

2011-01-31 by Phil Blah

Hello Spencer,

Thanks for your reply, I am also getting another strange thing the Sustain pedal
just stopped working but the left pedal still plays, once I restarted the piano
all runs again. So I suspect that it's a stray patch as you said, is there a way
to 'rest all' between songs or do you have or know of a midi file that just
resets everything?

This is important to me because I am not just playing a few songs here and there
at home, the piano is in my restaurant and I have a huge playlist that keeps
playing, most songs are ones we purchased from Yamaha so you would expect them
to be clean and tidy but there are other random midis.

Also, has anyone noticed that if you play an normal audio file (wav) with or
with out piano data if you have the pitch adjust to +1 the volume wavers around
you can hear this from a distance really clear plus it has some sort of poor
quality compression whirl, but if you take off the pitch adjust, to its default
0 you can hear the difference immediately. Obviously I use pitch adjust because
all pianos are always going to be a few cents +/- and I like to have it
perfectly matched.

Cheers,

Philip

It sounds like you might have some stray patch (instrument definitions)
somewhere in the files? Once sent to the piano, these will stay active until
another patch is sent for the same channel. On the following page, you can
find a program called "listmidievents to log" or something like that. You
can look at all the events in the file and see if there are patches. Best to
run the program without displaying note or pedal data to make it easier to
see things like patches etc.
