Re: Re: [disklavier] Re: Carol - your web site?

2011-02-17 by Michael Weinstock

Hello everyone,

Jack is correct. The site is being resolved to 2 separate IP addresses. The .75 one works and the .205 one does not.

I used an online worldwide DNS lookup tool to help understand the problem from a more global perspective.

http://www.just-dnslookup.com/index.php?vh=www.carolrpt.com&c=&s=dns+lookup!

Of the 53 worldwide DNS servers this site checks against across the world, we get the following results:

- 28 resolve to the .75 address (this Yahoo site works as Jack has highlighted)
- 23 resolve to the .205 address (this Dreamhost site does not work)
- 2 DNS servers are erroring

Web users around the world will get different results depending on which backend DNS server is resolving the ip address.

Regards,

Michael Weinstock
