OOPS,KC I have NOT noticed what you stated in the first paragraph. (It is amazing that one word can make so much difference in a sentence!) I will need to check that for myself. I don't know what the changes will be with the next DKC-850 update. As soon as we know, we will put the word out to the group. It might explain why when I run the DKC-850 as the Replacement controller, the DC5-Pro acoustic piano portions of the songs overpowers the accompaniment in both the tone generator and the CD audio portions on even the lower volume levels. When I then hook up the 850 as an Add-On unit, the piano portions are much quieter and I get the TG out to my amplifier at a more balance volume level. The downside is that not only do you loose Internet DRadio, some portions of SmartPiano songs (CD+MIDI) stop mid-stream (this does not happen with the 850 as the replacement). It probably has something to do with the Midi signals being transferred through the Mark IIXG controller unit...perhaps. Bill, can you shed any light on what upcoming changes we might see in the next 850 firmware update that might address this and other differences between the current E-3 ver3.0 and the current 850? I'm a little confused because I thought that the DKC-800 is the factory controller for E3 Disklavier pianos, while the DKC-850 is the controller to bring older Disklaviers to deliver "many" of the E3 capabilities. > > If the DKC-850 was used as a replacement in order to deliver "many" of the E3 Disklavier capabilities, if not "all", then what E3 capabilities would the DKC-850 be unable to give?. > > I would imagine Yamaha would have marketed the DKC-850 to deliver "all capabilities of E3". But, it used the word "many". Understand that Mark II cannot have streaming internet. But for Mark II-XG and above, I'm wondering what are those E3 features that the DKC-850 cannot give. > > Same question applies to the pianosoft store: Because they segmented E3 and DKC-850 models, it makes me wonder what media or downloadable content would one play that the other cannot. > > Thanks again! > > Curious Joe > > > > --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, Bill Brandom <BBrandom@> wrote: > > > > The E3 is a Disklavier piano. > > > > The DKC-850 is a replacement or add-on (depending on the model of the older Disklavier) unit that gives the older Disklavier many of the same capabilities that the E3 Disklavier has. > > > > Bill > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: disklavier@yahoogroups.com [mailto:disklavier@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of nehs1975 > > Sent: Monday, March 21, 2011 9:32 AM > > To: disklavier@yahoogroups.com > > Subject: [disklavier] E3 and DKC-850 > > > > When purchasing from the Yamaha website and selecting your instrument, http://www.yamahamusicsoft.com/en > > > > I noticed that the DKC-850 and E3 are two separate Disklavier models. I thought that DKC-850 is an E3 system (much like a DKC-800 is an E3 system).
