Re: [disklavier] Need technical owners of E3 to help out

you can play files to the DKV using an Android for control. if you want
to display file metadata it gets a little complicated. i play my LX
pianos and a friend plays his DKV in a manner i describe on one of my
blogs. you need a small computer somewhere the piano, it can be a little
notebook or small form factor computer. i use a 5 by 7 inch monitor to
make the whole footprint minimal. my favorite media player is Media
Monkey. there are add ons for MIDI and one for management of metadata in
the database. since the LX can play from MP3 files, the metadata aspect
is much easier but it is possible to add metadata to MIDI files and WAV
files using automated techniques. you do not have to enter information
track by track as long as you have the info in digital format of some
reasonable kind. if you are not concerned with metadata and just want to
organize your music by album, it is just a matter of ripping the CDs to
the host computer. this is a method of playing the piano only, not
controlling it in other ways. there may be applications that can be
installed on the computer that would give other forms of control.

to control with the Android, you use Teamviewer to set up remote access.
it works with Android, Iphone/pod/pad Windows, Mac and maybe some other
OSs by now. you can play your piano from any computer on the internet.
of course, you need a wireless (or wired) network to connect to the
piano's host computer.

if anyone wants to see this working, i would be willing to allow remote
access to my piano computer for a demonstration. anyone anywhere in the
world with internet access could play my piano after installing the free
Teamviewer program.

here is a little more info on the blog page.

you can also search the blog for media monkey for a few more details.
