Disklavier

Unfortunately, due to Yamaha's restrictive policies toward 3rd party 
development...anyone who chose to write this app would be facing an uphill 
battle.  Otherwise, it would probably exist already!

I've spent about 16 hours solid in the past two days trying to connect to a 
DKC-850.  From the looks of it, I've got a bunch more hours to go before I can 
even decide if this is going to be a non-starter.  The problem is that most 
people wouldn't want to spend those hours.  I'm enjoying it, for now.  ;-)

Anyway, if it does turn out to be a reality...writing something for an Android 
OS would be simple.

If u do write an Android interface for the Mark IV, i'll be the first in line to 
use it.
It's only a matter of time before someone out there writes one...!

Nothing exists to talk to the Disklavier from an Android, as far as I know. 
 Either Yamaha, or someone else (me?) would have to write one.  I could already 
do it for the MarkIV, since I know how to talk to it...but for now I'm 
concentrating on learning how to talk to the E3/DKC-850.

Kevin - I can't help you with the iPhone, but I do have a quick question. Does 
the Android have an application for the Disklavier like the iPhone does? I just 
bought a Droid Global 2 since I will be in Africa for four months this year and 
wanted a phone my kids could use to call me in case of an emergency. One of our 
exchange daughters loaded the iPhone Disklavier app on her iPod and its very 
cool. What, if anything, does Droid have?

I'm working very hard nowadays to get DKVBrowser working on E3 and DKC-850 
pianos.

Is anyone out there with an E3/iPhone and the ability to packet sniff their 
network in promiscuous mode?  This would allow your PC to "hear" wireless 
communication between the iPhone and the piano.  I specifically need to see the 
encrypted handshake.  It should be in plain-text, and looks like this:

piano sends something like this:
  <rc_certificate param="dQJLQReq3eilwMAMkaAIPXLNheB9UsE8gnR4c6udiKyMw6xRg7" />

iPhone responds with something very similar: 
  <rc_certificate param="sEcx4E9XLbwjjWVxVglndLF0DvWytMRc" />

I was hoping that Yamaha didn't change this, but they did.  I think I'm close, 
but I'm missing a detail.  The length of the response string is important in 
this case...I don't know how long it is supposed to be...

Also, anyone out their happen to be experienced in reading ARM disassembly?  I'm 
quickly learning, but it would help to be able to bounce ideas off of someone 
else.

Another odd request.  And this one is a stretch.  Does anyone out there have an 
old/unused iPod Touch, iPhone that they would be willing to let me borrow?  I'm 
an android type guy, so I don't have one.  Having an iPhone type thing around to 
sniff the packets myself would be very helpful...
