Yes, Jeff has been generous. And it is appreciated! The problem with this suggestion, though, is that the people with E3 and DKC-850 piano's can't see the donate button yet. :-) No need for birthday presents. But thank you for the thought...but remember the spirit when you *can* see the donate button in a short while. :-) On a slightly more serious note. DKVBrowser was always a project that I was doing for myself, to make using my piano more enjoyable/simple to use. The fact that others benefit from that work is fantastic. At the same time, it allowed me to write code which I had no longer been doing for my real job. Times have changed. I now write code again full-time at work...so that urge is already being satisfied. And, I don't own a DKC-850, or an E3. DKVBrowser is rather stable and feature complete for the Mark IV. So, all of this effort and time and expense is being put into DKVBrowser exclusively for people other than myself this time. I do it because of the challenge, and because I love it. A little bit of me keeps hoping that Yamaha will see what is possible and open up the doors for 3rd party development. For those of you who aren't too familiar with DKVBrowser, there is some (somewhat outdated) information here, including screenshots, and a lengthly user manual that Nancy did a fantastic job on. http://dkvbrowser.sourceforge.net/ If you are curious how this applies to the E3/DKC-850, I can only say that I'm approaching this with the same level of intensity that I approached it for the MarkIV. The goal is to make every feature that is available on the technology available from within DKVBrowser. It's very unlikely that the DKC-850/E3 support karaoke, for example...so that feature wouldn't be there. There are plenty of other things which simply don't exist on those pianos (comments, last played date, all sorts of information about songs, etc.), and those features will just have to be hidden, or not work. But, I have high hopes that in-place editing of song names/album names/song order/album order, and things like drag and drop creation of playlists will continue to be functional. Back to work I go. -Kevin ________________________________ From: Jeff Kovitz <jeff.kovitz@...> To: "disklavier@yahoogroups.com" <disklavier@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Fri, April 1, 2011 10:25:57 PM Subject: Re: [disklavier] Re: Need technical owners of E3 to help out The "donate" button in DkvBrowser would be a great first step. I've used it several times.... Sent from my iPad - typos show strong character...
