Re: [disklavier] Cakewalk

just remembered, the old cakewalk does not work with win 7 64 bit, it does work with 32 bit but it is probably easier to run virtual xp if you want to use an old cakewalk and not have to reboot to a 32 bit installation every time you want to run cakewalk.

Music Creator 5 (only this for a start)

It is a current (simple) version, full MIDI, and the price is very attractive.

Agree, older CAKEWALK versions are easier to use with MIDI, but harder to find.

Now days the MIDI interface should be USB with WIN drivers, no problem using this with CW MC5 under any flavor of WIN.

Best regards.

I'll prefer "CW MC5 SW" than MIDI freeware SW.

I went to Cakewalk.com to check out their software as hinted here on how to edit downloaded midis. Since I'm just beginning at this, all I want is to look at how piano parts are set to channel 1, and ensure that file is set as SMF Type 0. If there's an easier, freeware to use, please feel free to suggest.
Meanwhile, on Cakewalk.com, the site sells many software. I've listed them below. Which one should I get?
SONAR X1 Producer
SONAR X1 Studio
SONAR X1 Essential
SONAR Home Studio 7
Guitar Tracks Pro 4
Music Creator 5
Studio Instruments
Dimension Pro
Z3TA+
Rapture
pyro Audio Creator
MP3 Encoder

Thank you!
