Re: [disklavier] connecting disklavier to LAN and GC100, manual for DGC1M4

For the manual - go to

http://www.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/result.php

Enter Disklavier in the search.

for the best technician in Washington DC area - Carol Beigel - you can reach her at

www.carolrpt.com

a quick response to your other points - you are heading down the wrong path by trying to communicate with the Disklavier by using the DKV******* wireless access point. You will need to get to the LAN port on the I/O center - and drop your MIDI files by using the From/To folder. The manuals will explain this better. Carol will also be a good resource, but should be compensated for her efforts.

Hope that helps

Alan

Subject: [disklavier] connecting disklavier to LAN and GC100, manual for DGC1M4

I recently bought on EBay a DGC1M4 (circa 2004, I believe). A manual did not accompany the piano. I'm trying to connect the piano to my home network so that I can move .mid and .fil files to DGC1M4's hard drive. On my (Windows) network, I can see the piano's hard drive, Dkv******, but I do not see the file where (as best I can tell) midi files are stored (which on my unit I believe is called "User Library," or any file called "FromToPC".

Worse, in my effort to connect the piano to my network and to update the piano's system files, I fiddled with communication settings on the piano's handheld controller unit (PRC-100). As a result, the handheld now is not communicating with the other parts of the piano.

1. Where can I find a manual for this unit?

2. What are the correct communications settings to connect the handheld to a) the piano's hard drive, Dkv******, b) a wireless LAN-TC/IP, and c) wireless LAN-TEMP?

3. How should I connect the piano's hard drive to my home network to transfer MIDI files to the piano's hard drive? What is the name of the folder on the hard drive where the files should be stored?

4. If I need to resort to a qualified technician (and I need to get the piano tuned anyway), who in the Washington, DC area would you recommend?

Many thanks.

Lloyd Randolph
