Just to confirm: There is a “silent” system on the DU1E3 allowing you to play through headphones using a digital sample and the principle’s repeated across the range! You can also record what you’ve played.

The DU1E3 will play the same as a U1 acoustic piano. The solenoids sit under the keys and are "out of the way." The sensing system is fiber optic and does not come in physical contact with the action of the piano.

Playing in Silent mode does affect the touch of the piano. However, there is no Silent mode on the DU1E3.

They are different to play, but only slightly. I wouldn't say it was harder though - my MPX1Z (U1 MarkIIXG with silent system) feels slightly lighter to the touch when in silent mode and is more frustrating to play due to sounding delays on high velocity notes.

The solenoids do not interfere with the normal action on my DC3A. I've played both a C3 and DC3A and the action was the same. Not sure why a U1 would be any different as the solenoids hit the back of the keys to lift them. SJ
