Disklavier

I have a 10 year old DC1A that I mostly just play and haven't used the disklavier functionality in awhile.  I have a collection of Pianosoft and floppies with downloaded music and wanted to add to my collection of downloaded music.  Piano has not had a recent firmware upgrade either.  So, I thought I could just write from my computer to a CD for firmware upgrade and midi music files as I used to with floppies - I guess that's not possible as piano isn't recognizing anything on the CDs.  What am I doing wrong?  Will I need to connect a laptop by USB to Midi adapter?  I'd really like to start using the 'play music' functionality on my disklavier again.....
