you can also use a small dedicated computer to send either midi or audio encoded piano data to the computer and network that computer. this is what i do with my LX pianos. i use "media monkey" as a file server and use "team viewer" to control the dedicated computer from any computer in the world, not just my network. i can play my piano from an android, a, ipad/pod tablet or any PC or Mac computer because team viewer has versions for all of them. media monkey allows you to manage metadata ina multitude of ways, even for WAV and MIDI files. this entry (and a couple other on the blog) covers that basics of setting up this system on the LX piano. it is essentially the same for the DKV or any piano that plays MIDI files or audio encoded files.

I have been trying to figure this out also. I have come to 3 conclusions:

1) buy the DKC850 - probably the best choice
2) buy a MIDI to wireless converter - also very expensive ($400) there are still a few on the market
3) modify a MIDI cable so that one end plugs into an ethernet port. I have seen this done and it worked fine. The guy used trial and error to get the connections wired correctly. I think there are only four wires. Anyway, I put some cable diagrams on the new version of MIDI Player Tools at: www.midiplayertools.com which covers in more detail all of the above options.

I have a DKC 500R XG with a DCD1 cd player. I would really like to network this. Is there any way other than getting a DKC 850? The 850 is too expensive.
