I have a DKC 500R XG with a DCD1 cd player. I would really like to network this. Is there any way other than getting a DKC 850? The 850 is too expensive.

DKVBrowser won't help here. It only knows how to talk to MarkIV/DKC850/E3 pianos, and know's nothing about MIDI. There are plenty of other midi players that would do the trick though. ________________________________ From: athomik <mangez@...> To: disklavier@yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, May 25, 2012 6:35 AM Subject: Re: [disklavier] I want to put my disklavier on my home network. You could connect your DKC500RXG/DCD1 to a computer with a MIDI-USB adapter and use something like DKV Browser to control them. (You wouldn't necessarily need the DCD1 in the loop). Do a search on "disklavier" on Yahoo groups, and you should find details for the DKV browser. athomik

I have been trying to figure this out also. I have come to 3 conclusions:
1) buy the DKC850 - probably the best choice2) buy a MIDI to wireless converter - also very expensive ($400) there are still a few on the market3) modify a MIDI cable so that one end plugs into an ethernet port. I have seen this done and it worked fine. The guy used trial and error to get the connections wired correctly. I think there are only four wires. Anyway, I put some cable diagrams on the new version of MIDI Player Tools at: www.midiplayertools.com which covers in more detail all of the above options.
