It's worth a try, but I don't think that will work. PianoSmart tracks are full of proprietary SYSEX messages that are used to keep the MIDI in sync with the CD (and also to adjust the pitch of the CD to match the piano, if necessary). I heard that these messages include a signature of the audio waveform at specific points in time, or something similar. This is supposed to make the system able to tolerate different pressings of CDs that might have more or less delay at the beginning or other timing differences. I guess you've found a case where that mechanism isn't working. If the delay on the CD is really long, maybe the Disklavier is giving up on finding the signature for the start of the audio and starting the MIDI track too early. If that seems to be the case, you might try ripping the CD and burning a new version with empty time ahead of each track shortened. Also, your public library might have a different pressing of the CD you could try.
