[disklavier] Great work...

[disklavier] Great work...

1999-11-29 by Danny Simpson

Todd,

You show great initiative in getting an idea growing and going!

I spent some time this weekend going through my various folders in search of
'non-classical' material to contribute. Most of the things that I have reside by
far in the 'classical' classification. The ones that I do have that are
'non-classical' MIDI files I have purchased mainly through PG Music which
unfortunately do not fall into the public domain. If anyone is interested, they
can be found at http://www.pgmusic.com/. Some of their items will not play on
the disklavier properly without some MIDI channel editing either on the
disklavier itself or easier yet, using a computer based sequencer program...

Question, is there a general consensus of the group of what type(s) of music
that need to be submitted? Are there any general rules that need to be set up
for organization such as what topics are off base for this group? Can we have
constructive reviews of submitted material? How about those that have purchased
a disklavier for learning how to improve their playing? Can anyone suggest third
party educational programs? Remember, we have both Mac and PC types here if you
do have a computer at home...

I am in process of searching for material that I can contribute to the group.
Thanks again for getting the ball rolling and for the material that has already
been submitted.

Danny

Danny,
I am gratified that the response has been so good. My opinion, since no one
is paying or subsidizing this group (unlike DUG), we should feel free to
talk about anything we want.

From a practical standpoint, I would prefer not to have people uploading
Midi's that need a lot of doctoring. Nobody wants a broken hammer. Thanks
for not putting pirated commercial software on the site. We really don't
need to draw the wrong kind of attention.

[disklavier] Re: Classical Music

Danny,
I think it's safe to assume, judging by your posting that you are into
classical, as are many, if not most, of the duggers. Starting this
group turned out to be a snap. Why don't you start your own group for
classical music file swapping and discussion of same. Believe it or
not, it took only about 15 minutes to set up this group. Uploading all
the files was a bit more time consuming. You'll probably get a better
response than I did. I might even join. Just click on the "Start a
Group" link at the top of our group page, or simply go to
www.egroups.com and follow the instructions.
