If you upgrade to a DKC850, you should always keep the original unit for servicing/calibration.

I tried it with both and I get better results with the original unit.

Thanks for that

Another idea is hooking up the DKC-850 in the "add-on" configuration. I've found this to be the best of both worlds. I get all the cool features of the DKC-850 (except Disklavier Radio) plus the XG and later controller units have a much better sound card/sampled sound quality, and I have the ability to play native Disklavier PRO music files.

Plus I preserve the floppy disk drive in this configuration if I need it and as stated below, diagnostics and calibration are a snap.

If I do want DK radio or future potential live-broadcast options (when new DKC-850 firmware updates appear), it's an easy cable swap and one setting on the DKC-850 menu and I'm up and running.

I keep the controller units in a small furniture box out of site but within easy reach of the piano, keeping the look very much stock-grand piano like.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
