Disklavier and Sonos music system

2014-02-18 by <kassey22000@...>

I searched the archived messages and can't seem to find the one that describes how to play the DKV with a Sonos player. I had set it up successfully 2 years ago and for some crazy reason I can no longer send music files to the piano. Not sure if it's a router setting, DKC-850 setting, or what. I've checked all the cables and connections and the only thing that has changed in my whole house is the addition of a new server.

DKVBrowser works great and all other functions normal. Multiple reboots of entire systems and still no luck.

Sonos shows the piano, and shows the song playing, just nothing out of the piano.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks KC

SOLVED

Thanks to Bill Brandom's suggestion I've found what was causing the playback issue.

Somehow the Sonos player was swamping right and left channels on its equalizer setting or iTunes may have changed the setting. All of this happened when I updated my PCs to Win 8.1 and my server to WHS 2011. I've had nothing but problems with other equipment and programs since going to the new Microsoft operating systems so I should have guessed that it also effected the Sonos and iTunes programs. We may also find others who use PCs and/or other equipment to send songs to their Disklaviers are also running into this problem as more folks upgrade their software.

It's working great again and the beauty of this setup is I can have all of my favorite Smart Pianosoft music on my server without having to handle the often delicate and cumbersome CDs.

Go Disklavier!!

KC,
Would you mind explaining exactly what you are doing with the combination of the Sonos, iTunes, Router, DKV, etc?
I have a fairly automated house with all sorts of servers, music systems, etc. and am interested in the environment that this combination creates. What does all of these components combined let you do?
Thanks
Joe
