Fred is alive

Fred is alive

2001-12-06 by Todd Muncy

I just heard from Fred Brazeil, fresh from three lost days decontaminating his PC. Apparently his son had unknowingly opened the virus when it was sent to him. That brings up a good point. Being careful ourselves isn't enough. Make sure others that share your PC are virus savvy. Welcome back Fred.

Fred's email is fbrazeil@..., but don't bug him now with a bunch of emails. I have temporarily suspended his ability to post to the group, and sent him a private email requesting an explanation. If he doesn't get back to me shortly, I'll drop him from the group. I am about to issue a poll to the membership asking if I should disable the ability to include attachments with posts. It would avoid this problem, but like all security measures, it brings along a certain lack of convenience.

Below is a copy of my own e-mail that was sent to the group yesterday.
Right after I received my own e-mail (as a recipient in the group) I got an
e-mail from "Fred T Brazeil". However, it did not contain anything but an
attachment that has to be clicked on to open. I have not opened it. If
"Fred T Brazeil" or anyone else out there knows what this is all about I ask
you to let the group know in a plain text e-mail w/o enclosures or
attachments. I will not open any attachments with reference to this group
until we all know what "Fred T Brazeil".

Best regards

A. Johny Carlsson
