New Disklavier E3 Wireless Bridge setup - sonos/apple/other?

New Disklavier E3 Wireless Bridge setup - sonos/apple/other?

2014-10-09 by chrisdeck1969@...

I just received my new E3 and want to connect to my wireless network. It appears a bridge is my only option vs a wireless usb lan adapter.

My question is what would be the best setup? I have an Apple wireless network setup and I have a Sonos system. Both appear to be options but unsure what is the best option.

Appreciate any advice in advance.

I use the Sonos bridge and it works perfectly! In fact if you have (or purchase one on eBay or gazelle) a zone player (ZP-80), you can both get wireless support and send DK songs from Sonos lists directly to the Disklavier so it's controlled by you Sonos controller of choice. I've ripped all of my CDs to .WAV files, stored them in an iTunes list on my PC or home server, made a Sonos playlist of my favorite DK songs and control the entire night's of music with my Sonos system from anywhere in my home.

enjoy!

I wonder if you could explain a bit more, please.

Do you hardwire with an Ethernet cable from the Sonos bridge to the Disklavier internet connection port?

When you say you play your favourite DK songs, are these songs wave files or MIDI files? Do they operate the acoustic piano?

Kind regards

Geoff

What works with a Mark IV is the Neatgear Universal WiFi Internet Adapter (WNCE2001) available at Best Buy for $49. Check on the internet to make sure the store you plan to buy it has it in stock as not all stores carry it. Available on the internet though. You connect the ethernet cable that comes with it first to your wireless router. If it has WMD you just press the button. Otherwise plug this thing into your computer or laptop and follow the directions in the internet browser. THEN take it to your Disklavier and plug the ethernet cable to the port on the DKV and the other end to the adapter. You should see 3 green lights. You power it either by connecting it to the AC adapter and plug it into a wall outlet, or use the included USB cable and plug it into the USB on the Disklaver. All done. Now download either the Yamaha app for the DKV4 or the E3 (DKC850) depending upon your model, either to your iPhone or iPad and enjoy wireless control of your Disklavier.

Here is my setup which seems to be what you are looking for: I have an Apple Airport Extreme wireless network. I mount an Apple Airport Express beneath the piano that connects wirelessly to the network. Then I use an ethernet cable to connect the Apple Airport Express to the back of the controller box on my E3.
