Upgrade Mark IIXG with DKC850 HELP!!

Upgrade Mark IIXG with DKC850 HELP!!

2014-11-26 by whymark@...

I'll try and keep this brief....my dkc500rxg control box that came with the Mark II started acting up when reading or writing files...I use the floppy to xfer MIDI files to & from my computer.....so I bought a DKC850 and discovered that I've lost multi-track recording capability which I had on the 500. I spoke with Yamaha and was told I can hook them up in series with MIDI cables starting with the 850 through the 500 to the Dsklvr...They STRONGLY suggested I join a users group and ask for particulars since these guys are mostly repair technicians and don't get to fool around with the hardware mush.....OK, .NOW i find that the Yamaha website has an upgrade DL for the MarkII.....it's a compressed, self-extracting file....No prob xfer to a USB driver but, I don't know if the 850 can extract the files or not and I don't want to go into that very uncharted territory alone!!...Has anybody successfully hooked up the two control boxes in series and installed the DL files?...If so, let's talk!!!...If this topic has already been beaten to death then pls direct me to the former thread....many thanks

Good evening, everyone.

Mark, the manual that comes with a DKC-850 has a pretty clear set of diagrams and directions at the front of the manual for the two basic types of use: replacing an existing control unit and piggybacking onto an existing control unit.

If memory serves me correctly, the unit comes with all cables necessary for the various types of installation.

Regards,
