Any recommendations on how to clean / polish an ebony color Disklavier?
I’ve searched this forum and have read comments about using Windex for light cleaning or an automotive polishing product like Meguiars for polyester.
I suspect that over the years my Disklavier has accumulated a very light film of grease from cooking, etc.
Any thoughts and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks . . . / Robert

The people at Cory are very responsive. Call and describe the condition of your piano, they will recommend the best cleaning product. http://www.corycare.com/piano-care-products.html Sam www.keyboardcollective.com

Sam, Thanks for the suggestion. I called around locally for piano care products made by Cory and was able to purchase their Super High-Gloss Piano Polish. Great stuff . . . the Disklavier looks great. Cory also has a Pre-Polish Finish Cleaner that I didn't found locally, but will pick some up in my travels for future use. As yet another suggestion, the local Yamaha retailer mentioned they use Mothers California Gold products with good results. Mothers California Gold products are readily available from automotive and hardware stores. Robert

One of my pianos has a satin finish. I tried the Cory polish for satin, and it looked worse! I called the company, they gave me credit for the polish and sent me a different product that worked quite well. I also use their high-gloss polish, works fine for my disklavier with high gloss. They also sell a polish specifically for the keys. The company is quite good, knows different finishes and different types of wood used in pianos. I trust their opinions and products. Perhaps Windex works, I would not use it, YMMV. Sam www.keyboardcollective.com

Apparently, this thread is primarily focused on the high gloss polyester finish. How should I clean my DC6A Disklavier with a satin finish? I believe the satin finish is attained by careful sanding at the factory. If that is true, then I don't think "filling in the gaps" would be a good thing. Glen

Cory products has polish for satin as well as high-gloss. Always try on a small, hidden section first. Their first product did not work on my satin piano, they sent a second that did. Sam www.keyboardcollective.com (212) 684-3304

I could not be happier with the Cory Super High Gloss piano polish. It goes on very fast, simply, and wipes off without ANY residue. I once tried using McGuire's 2 step plastic cleaner/polish in a small area on the back of the piano and I could never get the residue to go away even with buffing. Check Amazon reviews on the Cory high gloss product as the reviews are very good.
Happy Holidays!
