Problems with Ipad and Disklavier TV?

Problems with Ipad and Disklavier TV?

2014-12-22 by Jon Arnold

I have an E3 with Disklavier DKC850 (thanks to Steve Winder again!) and am
really enjoying it. I signed up with Disklavier Radio/TV and that works just
fine for the most part but I am having trouble with one aspect of it.

For the OnDemand part of it, I am using an Ipad Air. I can connect to the
850 via Bluetooth and it plays just fine. I can also see the live video on
the Ipad screen. But how do I get that live video on my big TV? Apparently
using AirPlay via AppleTV won't work, as it cannot do both Bluetooth and
AirPlay at the same time. I got a cable that comes out of the power port of
the Ipad and goes to HDMI on the TV, but again, I can only do one or the
other -- either the Bluetooth hearing the piano or the live video on the TV
but not both at the same time?

Would VGA to the big TV make a difference, instead of HDMI? Any
suggestions?

Just curious, how do you connect from your iPad to dkc-850 via Bluetooth? I currently have my iPad hardwired to the input of the dkc-850.

Thanks!

Good morning, everyone.

Jon, the best way to insure that the video is in sync with the Disklavier is to send the video and audio to the TV and then to pass the audio through the TV to the Sync Input of the Disklavier.

If you have an AppleTV box connected to your TV, you can wirelessly send the video and audio from the iPad or computer to the TV. Your task, at that point, is to get the audio out of the TV and over to the Disklavier.

Regards,
PianoBench

RE: [disklavier] Problems with Ipad and Disklavier TV?

2014-12-23 by Jon Arnold

Good news, it is working! Now for anyone else with possibly the same or a similar problem, here’s a quick synopsis:

1. Connect the DKC850 to the Internet, where you have already setup your Disklavier Radio/TV account. Select RemoteLive.

2. On the iPad, connect & pair the Bluetooth with the DKC850 (it will be something like BusPower).

3. On the iPad, bring up Safari and go to and log into your Disklavier TV account and select what you are going to play, but don’t start it yet.

4. On the iPad, connect (via the power port at the bottom) with a cable going into the HDMI on the TV. Be sure to select the right HDMI source on the TV. You should now see the iPad screen on the TV.

5. Very important, and here is where I blew it before, thinking it did not work: scroll UP from the bottom of the iPad, touch the sound icon, and the iPad will give you a LIST of the audio devices it sees. SELECT THE DKC850 “BusPower” DEVICE that you previously paired via Bluetooth.

6. Touch on the iPad to start the Disklavier TV video.

7. Sit down with your glass of wine and enjoy.

The only remaining problem (minor) is that even if I click “play all” on the Disklavier site, it still only plays the first one and then stops.

Note: before starting this whole thing, you may want to go to settings --> autolock on the ipad and set it for NEVER, otherwise when the ipad screen times out and goes blank, your music and video go away. (Then remember to set it back from NEVER when you are done).

I am pretty certain the DKC 850 or DKC 800 (e3) have no Bluetooth functionality.

Can you use a Bluetooth transmitter connected to the DKC850? I can play DisklavierTV on my iPad and have my piano hardwired to the headphone jack on the iPad. However, like the idea of playing on my TV via appleTV. SJ

On my ipad, I just go to settings, Bluetooth, and connect to the DKC850 bluetooth which is “Bus-Power”.

Are you connecting to the DKC 850 without a USB dongle ? My iPhone is not picking up any Bluetooth from the Disklavier. Am I missing something ?
