MIDI connections between Disklavier and iPad

2016-11-18 by George F. Litterst

Good morning, everyone.

I noticed that a member of this list sent a technical support request to my company, TimeWarp Technologies (www.timewarptech.com) last night, inquiring about the best option for establishing a MIDI connection between iPad and Disklavier. Although my company will answer the customer directly, I thought that I would share the information with this group.

We offer a freely downloadable PDF that uses links and images to show all of the options for connecting iOS devices to MIDI keyboards. You can get the guide here:

http://www.timewarptech.com/hcx-resources.php

The guide covers wired connections between the MIDI ports of the instrument and the iPad as well as direct USB connections. And, the guide covers the latest, wireless Bluetooth options as well.

Depending upon which vintage of iPad you have, the wired connections may require adapters, and we provide links for those.

In the case of the wireless Bluetooth adapters from Yamaha and Quicco Sound, we also provide links to the hard-to-find apps that those companies provide for updating the firmware. In the case of the Quicco app, it includes a jukebox player that comes loaded with 300 classical piano MIDI files.

Regards,
