Audio MIDI converter

2016-11-10 by organut72@...

I understand that there's a program available to convert standard MIDI files to a format recognized by the Disklavier's Audio MIDI input. The MIDI info apparently modulates an audio carrier, allowing an audio connection rather than a digital one.

Does anyone have information on where I can obtain this, and any other details that might be useful? I'd like to use an RF audio link to send playlists to the piano.

The program you're seeking is MID2PianoCD:
http://www.kinura.net/mid2pianocd/

Be aware that Pianosoft Plus Audio digital streams employ a fragile
modulation scheme that cannot tolerate lossy compression (commonly
applied "under the hood" by Bluetooth audio links). Consequently,
Pianosoft Plus Audio must be stored in WAV, FLAC, or Apple Lossless
format; MP3 will generally not work reliably enough.

A workaround to allow storing MIDI tracks in MP3 format would be to
encode them to "PianoDisc Classic" format instead, which is supported by
Mark III and Mark IV Disklaviers. I'm pretty sure that PianoDisc
support was dropped for E3 and Enspire as the result of PianoDisc adding
a DRM scheme to the format circa 2005.

Thanks for the information, Mark. My controller is a DKC55RCD. Not sure if that's a Mark IV or V, or what, but I'll download the program and let you know when I get something running.

Your Disklavier is a Mark III Full Function system.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
