Universal Remote for all MIDI players
2016-12-09 by Carol Beigel
Perhaps I should have indicated that my way of using an iPhone to wirelessly control a Disklavier is not an update of the software provided by Yamaha or anyone else. It is a way of turning an iPhone, iPad or iPod into a universal remote that is backwardly compatible with all Disklaviers, PianoDisc and QRS PIanomation systems as well. If anyone finds an app that would let an Android device do the same thing, I would like to know about it and include it as well. I have heard people complaining about the lack of music for their players, so the idea of being able to convert and play universal MIDI files on all players might be of some interest to some. Thanks to Mark Fontana for writing software to back up standard MIDI files, and George Litterst for assembling the information of current MIDI interfaces and the connectors that may be necessary to attach to an iPhone, iPod or iPad, and two very nice Apps available in the Apple App store, this information may give new life to owners of older MIDI player systems. So, if someone on your Christmas list could use an inexpensive new gadget to play with, consider a Bluetooth Wireless MIDI interface! see www.midiplayertools.com/Connecting.htm <http://www.midiplayertools.com/Connecting.htm> Happy Holidays!
