Hello Does anyone know where I might find a floppy drive for this unit as mine has broke. Or possibly the whole DKC 100r unit? Or can a later model control unit be connected to the older Piano. Mike

Yamaha has not finished supplying replacement parts. However, it is necessary to replace panel and some parts. Please ask Yamaha near you.

This could be a possibility, as I called Yamaha tech support yesterday, was told they were not sure but thought that the double density floppy was no longer available? There are used working control units for sale on Ebay, but so far they are later models than the DKC 100r, wondering if they could be adapted to the older DKC 100r or just replaced? Mike

try just replacing the floppy drive. The newer DKC850 works, but you would also need to buy speakers. Cost is about $2300. Really try the link I just sent you. You can buy a MIDI interface and connecter for less than a $100. Send Mark Fontana some money for the PPFDBU software that converts those 750k double density floppies to standard MIDI files that you can store anywhere - preferable iCloud or Dropbox. Get an iOS device - even used. i.e. iPod. Get the free app Piano JukeBox and/or Sweet MIDI player in the app store. Even if you need to purchase an external floppy drive from Yamaha ($150) you have everything you need (except internet radio for Diskavier which you can’t get on that piano anyway). Eventually you need to do this anyway. Carol Beigel

Thanks Carol, I will read up on this, at a glance looks pretty simple, but I usually get stuck on the computer stuff! But will try to get this to work as the player at this time is not functioning. And I am not ready for the upgrade of the DKC 850 at this time. Mike

When I had a broken floppy for my mkii Yamaha wanted $315 for a replacement. I just hooked up computer thru MIDI, would never use floppy again, though I fixed it by jamming in a floppy disc really hard. I have thousands of MIDI files, even an excel database that will play music upon clicking. Sam www.keyboardcollective.com (212) 684-3304 *(Sent from phone - please excuse brevity and typos.)

i think Sam might be using a program i wrote that makes excel sheets from a folder of midi files. it makes hyperlinks so you can click the link to play the file. the program extracts text data to be used as the display fields in the excel sheet. it includes track names which are where most people who make midi files seem to think the meta data goes. for the most fastidious who like their meta data in order, you can use another program pair of mine to insert keyworded text events sort of like mp3 tags into the midi files which will then be included in the excel.another program lists out all text events (other than lyrics) to a tabbed text file so you can run this on all your files that might contain useful information in track names etc. then edit this file and use it to insert keyword marked pairs and make the excel from those midi files.sounds like a lot of work but all the programs run unattended and are pretty fast. the big job is editing out all the data extracted from the files to your liking. depending on what is in the files this may be easy or a huge job. my emulation files from reproducing piano rolls all have the keyword pairs so for those it is just one program to run.i also have several years of Yamaha E-Comp files with this meta data added which i can share with others. i give this set of fifles for free to anyone who buys something else from me as i do not want to write and mail CDs for free although i can not charge for the Yamaha files, of course.Best regards, Spencer Chase

Yes, Spencer - I should have mentioned that you wrote this terrific program (among many others) but my aging memory failed me.It has all the Yamaha competition performances, but I'm sure others could be added. Great having thousands of performances in one database, play by clicking (opens up Van Basco player in my system).Photo Gallery:On Tue, Dec 13, 2016 at 4:33 PM, 'Spencer Chase' lists@... The ones found on the Player Jukebox are piano only, and I think many or most on the midiplayertools are piano only as well. I know Sleigh Ride is not. Carol Sent from my iPhone

Ok… So I ordered a midi bluetooth from Sam’s music, have not received yet! Also ordered a new floppy drive from Yamaha, installed today, says unformatted disk using the original Yamaha disks? Anyone had this experience. I will call Yamaha Monday for their thoughts! Mike
