Hi guys,

I recently upgraded my PC with 4k screen and now running java pc100.jar controller on the laptop is a bit of a pain to see such a small interface. Googling this didn't help me to solve it so wondering if you have that solved somehow (win 10).

Thank you,
Dmitry

There's isn't much you can do aside from changing the "Scale and Layout" in for Windows (Display settings). PRC100.jar thinks in terms of pixels, and has no knowledge of scaling whatsoever.

I have the same problem with several applications. Love my 4k monitor but not for some apps. Some don't work correctly at all because of the way various graphical elements seem to be specified. Overlapping and partial graphical elements like buttons can not b e fixed but if you just need it bigger so you can see, win 10 does have a magnifier application. Use the search tool for mangifier and choose the desktop app. once started it will stay in the task bar and can be easily accessed.

Good afternoon, everyone.

Dmitry, by using a PC, even with this issue, you are way ahead of me.

Currently none of my Macs, which are running the latest Mac OS X 10.12.5 and Java 8 (131), can access the virtual PRC.

Thank you, guys!

@George. It is so unexpected it doesn't work on Macs - I thought Java is the same on all the platforms. But I don't use Macs so cannot comment on that :)

@Kevin. I see what you mean. Even agree with you. But :) One interesting thing. I change the resolution on the screen to half size both dimensions and the java window size was exactly the same it was before! That was so unexpected to be honest. If I have some time I will investigate a bit further to see if I can do anything here. But I might need to restart the whole laptop to get the effect of changing resolution for java...

@Spencer. Thanks for the suggestion!! Works perfectly! Sadly cannot do this just for one app :)

Thank you, guys

George,
Are you expecting the virtual PRC to work from the dna folder on the piano, or are you trying to launch the JAR file directly?
I believe launching from the dna folder has been broken for many years, both on PC and on OS/X. But the jar file should be able to be launched on OS/X.

be sure to check the "views" and options in magnifier. it may be more useful than it appears initially. i searched for other magnifiers and there are a lot of them. none seems perfect but one may fit your application better.

Hi Kevin,

I know you might not test the app with jre 9 but if you can quickly look at the log file (attached) if I can fix the app and start it. Understand if you will not do that for beta :)

Cheers,
Dmitry

Hi!
Yep - I also saw that! But :) It just didn't work with java application. I tried several options (even patching the app) but with no luck. It might happen that the prc100.jar is using full graphics UI comparing to other apps which use UI libraries for that.
But java 9 release notes say they fixed that so tried it and it worked better for me.
Thank you for the suggestion - might definitely help for other apps!
All the best,
Dmitry

Dmitry,

I ran into a similar problem on my PC with Adobe applications showing up in tiny fonts. This site provided a great way to prevent the application from loading like a hi-def app. Worked perfectly. You might want to try it for your app.

very interesting but the question is WTF microsoft makes us go through all this crap. why not make it simple such as creating a shortcut to the program and having a run property similar to the way you specify compatibility mode. are they really so stupid that they can't think of something like this? the older i get, the more pissed off i get about having to find work arounds for microsoft stupidity. i used to like the challenge (???) but not any more.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
