floppy drives

Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a floppy drive emulator for DKC100R?

All will depend on the type of floppy drive. Do you know if the floppy drive in the DKC100R has a same part number as the floppy drive in the DKC5R? If so it will probably work.

The Emulator will emulate a 720k or 1.44k drive with a shugart or ibm interface. It really depends on the disk
controller chip in the control box, and the functions of the floppy drive pinouts.

If you have a copy of the schematic of the DKC100R controller box, I could take a quick look for you. To see
if I think it could work.

The link to the makers of the emulator is:

Their customer support is very helpful. They may be able to help you also.

Drive costs about $110 USD.

There is a German version SD card. However, you will always need a working floppy drive for that piano no matter what you do.

Hi Eric,
thanks for responding. It would be really cool if I could get an emulator to work in place of floppy drive. I have checked on part numbers and they are not the same. Looking for schematic to check pin outs and will get back to you.
thanks
Fred

Sounds good. If you can get a schematic, that would be great.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your reply. I have attached a service manual for the DKC100R. I wasn’t able to find pin out etc from the floppy drive. I checked with Martin at Yamaha and part numbers aren’t the same.

Seems like the emulator might work on the newer controller.

Stay Tuned
