More to come from the Piano-e-Competition

More to come from the Piano-e-Competition

2002-06-29 by PianoBench@aol.com

Good evening, everyone.

In a message dated 6/15/02 6:15:27 PM, Robert writes:

<< ....is a GREAT source of MIDI files for your Disklavier! I'm amazed
at the quality.

http://www.piano-e-competition.com/finalists.htm

They have about 100 downloadable files of complete performances. >>

If you have not been to the site during the last week, go directly to the
home page:

http://www.piano-e-competition.com

If you browse the links, you will find that all of the Preliminary pieces
that were recorded are available for download as Disklavier SMFs. Every piece
that has been mentioned on this site as a problem has been fixed and reposted
with one exception: Lin05.mid (Tao Lin's performance of Chaconne) which the
webmaster will repost on Monday. Relatively new on the site are some
streaming videos from the finals.

The webmaster also promises to post, on Monday, six different solo pieces
(Disklavier SMFs) that were played by the five winners in the final gala
concert. One of these pieces is Mei-Ting Sun's final encore: Liszt's
Transcendental Etude #5. Everyone who has heard it has left his/her jaw on
the floor.

If you find any other need for corrections to the site, please let us know. I
may be slow to respond because I will be at the World Piano Conference in
Slovenia this coming week.

Hi Pianobench,

The work you and others have done on this is outstanding. I'm listening to
the midis on my DGT11xg in Australia and marvel at the quality of sound and
performances. How about an e-competition for jazz, new age, Christmas
songs.anything. This is encouraging me to learn how to play the piano.

Regards,

Len Kosharek

Hi

"with one exception: Lin05.mid (Tao Lin's performance of Chaconne)"

What's wrong with this file, and do I need to re-download it?

That's the one that starts with 43 minutes of silence. You could always
fix it yourself.

Thanks

It works fine, as it is, on my CVP and PC but I might as well
download it again.

Thanks

Hello my friend,
I can read you have a CVP. I want to buy a second hand Yamaha CLP 555. Are you familiar with this digital piano ?
Good quality ? I already have found some information on the Internet but would also like to know the new price of this model was which has been replaced by the CLP 955.
Looking forward to receiving your reply soon, thanks !
Best wishes, Jeff / The Netherlands

Hi

I say it works fine!!!!!

It plays but sound very odd. Is it me, are does it sound like a load
of odd notes? Maybe it's just down to Nancarrow.
I will download the corrected file tomorrow and hope it is better!!!!

Greetings from the World Piano Conference in Slovenia.

I logged on this morning and had not trouble. Please try again and let me

PianoBench: Neil is correct. Please check again. Clicking on the
"Sun08.mid" and "Sun09.mid" links or any of the Winners' Gala Concert
links results in,

"File Not Found
The requested page or file was not found on this server.
Please use your Back Button or the links below to return to Yamaha."

Thanks.

Hi

If you are having trouble with the download then go to the "HOME"
page and then to the "GALA" night page and download from there.

You are correct the pages are missing if you try to download from the
winners own pages.

HOME then LISTEN TO THE MIDI FILES OF WINNERS' GALA CONCERT HERE

http://www.piano-e-competition.com/winnersgala.htm

Good Luck
