Hi PianoBench

you wrote, you are a sax player. THis letter now i am writing for my friend. He is a sax player too.

He is surching for a midifile or a special cd(or mp3) for the song : It´s raining again from supertramp.

He wants to play the intro and the middle part with his sax and the accompaniment should come from the midi or other medium.

Do you know this titel and how to get a "playback" or "play along" or "minus one"?

May be anybody else here in this forum can help me and my freind?

Try going to www.google.com and searching for:

sax + MIDI + accompaniment

Also, if you are mostly interested in pop, jazz, and other contemporary
genres, you might want to give Band-in-a-Box a try from PG Music
(www.pgmusic.com). This wildly popular program for Mac and Windows will
quickly create accompaniment files for you (piano, bass, and drums, at the
very least). All you have to do is to enter the chord changes for the piece,
choose a style and tempo, and (if you wish), define a soloist, and the
program will magically do the rest. The options are amazingly extensive.

As I understand the story, the original author, Peter Gannon, was an arranger
who created the program to make his own life easier.

I don't know this song. I presume that it is a copyrighted song, so your 
search is probably limited to commerical sources.

I did a quick search on www.google.com for:

"It's Raining" + supertramp + MIDI

(The reason for using quotes around "It's Raining" is to keep the search 
engine from finding web pages with those two words in separate, unrelated 
places on the page.) Quite a number of hits came up.

You can also try the search with this string:

"It's Raining" + supertramp + MP3

Since you mentioned mp3 or CD as a possibility (i.e. digital audio as opposed 
to MIDI), I recommend that you try:

www.musicminusone.com

Music Minus One has specialized in this sort of music (using recordings of 
real instruments, not MIDI instruments) for many years. You will note on 
their website that they also advertise a CD player from Superscope that will 
let you adjust the tempo without changing the pitch--a feature that used to 
be exclusive to the MIDI domain. It can also change the pitch without 
changing the tempo--something that the CD player in the Disklavier Mark III 
can do (but not the DCD1).

Lastly, you might want to try www.eatsleepmusic.com and check out the Tune 
1000 series. I did a quick search there for "It's Raining", and the search 
engine came up with 3 MIDI files, one of which was from SuperTramp.

You are right: The Titel "it´s raining again" is not in "mimusone" and not in "play along"
