C/D and midi
Their has been confusion about the C/D formate in the Player Piano
industry by customers for may years. This formate is not C/D rom it
is C/D audio. The C/Ds sold by Yamaha,PianoDisc and QRS are based on
audio on one channel and "audio"on the other. The audio that contains
the info for solenoids are much like the info sent by a fax machine.
The file timing needed to send midi and audio at the same time is not
possible at present. As Spencer Chase has indicated his midi "only" C/D
rom is avalible. The cost involved in royalies to produce the C/D audio for
the player piano is much heigher that a midi file.Yamaha and PianoDisc
have formates that have lower cost royalies than a midi0 or midi1.Their
is not a case of greed but true cost in artist and royalies.
