C/D and midiTheir has been confusion about the C/D formate in the Player Pianoindustry by customers for may years. This formate is not C/D rom itis C/D audio. The C/Ds sold by Yamaha,PianoDisc and QRS are based onaudio on one channel and "audio"on the other. The audio that containsthe info for solenoids are much like the info sent by a fax machine. The file timing needed to send midi and audio at the same time is notpossible at present. As Spencer Chase has indicated his midi "only" C/Drom is avalible. The cost involved in royalies to produce the C/D audio forthe player piano is much heigher that a midi file.Yamaha and PianoDischave formates that have lower cost royalies than a midi0 or midi1.Theiris not a case of greed but true cost in artist and royalies.Don Dusenbury
