Mike,

Thanks very much for asking for input. As a DC6 Pro owner, I would
love to see these files distributed in XP format. I agree with Robert
Welcyng about option C being the best approach for everyone.

Another request. I am not sure what happened to the files from the
previous competition, but some of the files were different from others
from a format perspective. I note this difference in that some of the
files were loadable into iTunes (a Mac application) and could be played
there in a playlist (either through the Quicktime synthesizer, or
through a midi interface to the DC6 Pro). Other files were not able to
be loaded into this application. So there is some part of the file
which differs and is not compatible with iTunes. I don't understand
the difference, but I was able to convert the files to a compatible
format by importing them one by one into Propellerhead's Reason program
and then saving the files. This altered the file in a way that made
incompatible files compatible somehow.

An example file that is compatible with iTunes is: Prelude in G,
performed by Korchinskaya-Kogan.

An example file that is incompatible with iTunes is: All songs by
everyone except those by Sun, Korchinskaya and Saviski are incompatible.

All of the files by Sun, 6 of the 7 files by Korchinskaya-Kogan and 4
of the 6 files by Savitski are compatible.

A final request, and only if you really have the inclination, would be
to provide the files with ID3 tags like those on an audio CD. This
allows one to import the songs to an audio playback application like
iTunes without the tedious naming and cataloging required. Again this
would be nice but the other things mentioned above are much more
important.

Thanks,

Dave Budde

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
