Japanese Piano to English

Japanese Piano to English

2003-05-23 by ralph_specht

I have a Japanese MX100. When I turn on the piano, the words "Yamaha
Disklavier" show up on the display, and all the song titles show up
in English. But, all of the other displays are in Japanese.

Does this mean that the Flash Memory chip has already been replaced?
And, if not, how can I procure an English Flash Memory Chip, and can
I replace it myself.

Thanks

Ralph,

Disclaimer: I've never done this and would be VERY careful so that
the disklavier doesn't become in-operable. With that said...

It is "Flash" memory, chances are it doesn't need to be "replaced".
I would think if you could find the correct version of the disklavier
operating software on the web site you could flash your system to the
english version.

Honestly, I don't know if it's this simple or not. Perhaps one of
the more "techy" disklavier folks could chime in.

Brian

I fear that the MX100A/B does not have a flash ROM (EPROM) but a
fixed ROM, so that the language cannot be changed.
Was the piano originally purchased on the japanese market?
Only the later models have a flashable ROM.
I also own a MX100A, which still plays very well.
