FYI, My neighbor's children decided to feed the 3.5" drive in my disklavier... needless to say, it died. I took the controller apart (100r), and found a Mitusbishi MF355H- 262MG. After doing a bit of hunting, I found it was pin compatable with this drive http://store.yahoo.com/alan-fm/mf355h-348mn.html Sure enough, it worked like a charm.

Yes it does! Now, keep in mind that Mitsubishi decided to shrink the size of the 26 pin edge connector for the ribbon cable the last few years. The good news is it's still pin compatable. I just spliced the ribbon cable apart and soldered it to the new smaller ribbon cable. Major pain in the butt, but I now have a HD 100xg unit. The other interesting thing is the unit uses a DX50 daughter card - the same card I used to have on my old Creative Labs soundblaster card back many computers ago... Still sounds good after all these years. --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, "Ralph Specht" <thespechts@c...> wrote: > Does it now read HD disks also? > ----- Original Message ----- > From: a_zoghlin > To: disklavier@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Friday, September 05, 2003 3:11 PM > Subject: [disklavier] Found floppy replacement.... > > > FYI, > > My neighbor's children decided to feed the 3.5" drive in my > disklavier... needless to say, it died. > > I took the controller apart (100r), and found a Mitusbishi MF355H- > 262MG. If so it might be worth looking for a commercial cable to allow the new drive to be used without soldering and recommending it as an unofficial upgrade for the brave :) > The other interesting thing is the unit uses a DX50 daughter card - > the same card I used to have on my old Creative Labs soundblaster > card back many computers ago... I've got a late issue (bought at end of line) MPX1Z (U1) MarkIIXG disklavier which has a DB51XG inside it (located on the right hand side underneath near the strings). I guess this is just slight tweaks on the DB50XG, and maybe consumes less power / generates a bit less noise than the DB50XG. Does anyone know whats in the MarkIII series (eg DU1A)? I would be interested to know what got changed sound generator wise! Cheers, James
