Disklavier List Prices - How Much Negotiating Room?

Disklavier List Prices - How Much Negotiating Room?

2003-12-04 by Gewartowski, John

Does anyone have an idea of what the bottom line price is on a 5'3"
Conservatory Series Disklavier? (DC1A?)
My local dealer just had a $500 coupon promotion sale, and the price was his
"best" at around $19,600.

I was just told by a coworker that my local mall has a bunch of Disklaviers
set up for sale through the holidays, and I was going to head over to
bargain the best price I can on a new one before deciding whether to go
through with a used purchase I have been working for over a month. I can
get a used Mark I DC1 for about $15K including shipping, but if I can get a
brand new Mark III for a couple grand more, I'd do it.

I'm hoping that one of you can relay information for Disklaviers like the
information available for car dealer prices.

Thanks!

No, sorry, but here's two places to look. First, check out the
Database of prices on this group (click Database to the left of
here). This shows actual prices paid, if they are to be believed.
At least it's a start.

Secondly, check about on the web. For example, Chamberlain Music
will auto-email you a price on a Disklavier (although it's in pounds
sterling, it's again a reasonable starting point).

Be aware that when looking at even quite recent prices, these will
reflect the older dollar values. Since the US dollar has collapsed
around 25% over the last couple of years (including against the
Yen), you are likely to find that even if prices haven't gone up,
dealers will have a whole lot less margin to give away these days.

Regards

Charles

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
