CD drive messing up

2003-12-17 by knder1@hotmail.com

My CD drive on my Mark III DC7 is intermittently stopping playing for
a few seconds at a time; sometimes it stops altogether right in the
middle of a song. I have used isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab to
clean the lens. But it still does it. Can someone tell me what to
do next? Thanks for your help.

I have a client with the same situation. I think the problem is not with
the CD player, but the DSP board that controls the CD. The other reason for
thinking in this direction is that the unit had a LOT of trouble with the
update program. Unfortunately, we have had trouble scheduling the repair so
I don't know if this works or not. I suggest you call your Disklavier
technician and explore this possibility.
