Jimmy, It did not work for me either with media player. I downloaded entire Rachmaninoff zip file and opened it with CakeWalk and Yamaha XGSoftSynthesizer. It worked with both applications. Good luck. Hi Jimmy. The MIDI files play fine on my MarkII XG. However, my usuaul sequencer software (Power Tarcks) does not recognize the files. It appears that the files contain 'extra' data or the files use a non- standard data format not recognized by all MIDI palyers and/or sequencer software. If you want, I can try converting the files from ".MID" to ".FIL" and email them to you. If interested, send me an email. Regards, Robert --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, Jimmy <JimmyM@V...> wrote: > Hello, I have try to download the Rach Concerto no 3, but there is a problem, I am not able to play it with media player, not able to play it at all, it does show as a midi file format... anyone else have try it.. > > Thanks. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: rrl_edm > To: disklavier@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Monday, December 22, 2003 7:31 PM > Subject: [disklavier] Re: looking for Rachmaninoff > > > > > Another good source of MIDI files playable on the Disklavier is the > Classical Music MIDI Page: > http://www.sciortino.net/music/ > > The Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3 can be found at > http://www.sciortino.net/music/svr.html > > -Robert > > --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, mae121864@a... wrote: > > Anybody have Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30 > > > > To Post a message to the group, send it to: disklavier@Y... > > To Post a private message to Todd Muncy, the group's founder and moderator, send it to: > disklavier-owner@Y... > > To reach our group's web site go to: > http://Yahoogroups.com/group/disklavier > > Todd's family web site was completely updated 012/22/03. Jimmy, Sergy, I had the same problem. I can open it and play it with Cakewalk Home Studio 2002. However, there are problems. I can't get the piano part to play properly on the Disklavier. I told Cakewalk to play Track 9, which is the piano part on Channel 1 so it would play on my piano. It only plays some of the notes. I tried to open the tracks in Staff view but it would not open. I got an error message that said "The Staff View cannot handle meters that are longer than 16 quarter notes." I noticed that on the piano roll view, there were no pedal commands and that the notes are held very long. This was clearly made for midi equipment that cannot handle sustain pedal commands. Another site that has a lot of midi files with this same sustain problem is parlorsongs.com Too bad, it's just no good for Diskalviers. Maybe you could contact the Sciortino guy and ask him if it can be fixed somehow. I would be interested in how you make out with this. > I would like to take a look at this file. What is the url? Hi Pianobench, The files in question are: http://www.sciortino.net/music/midi/svr/svr030a.mid http://www.sciortino.net/music/midi/svr/svr030b.mid http://www.sciortino.net/music/midi/svr/svr030c.mid None of these play properly, although they appear to contain valid midi data at a first glance (possibly incorrectly uploaded with an FTP tool?). The files were linked from http://www.sciortino.net/music/svr.html (Piano Concerto No.3 in D minor) Cheers, James
