Jimmy,

It did not work for me either with media player. I downloaded entire
Rachmaninoff zip file and opened it with CakeWalk and Yamaha
XGSoftSynthesizer. It worked with both applications.

Good luck.

Re: looking for Rachmaninoff

Hi Jimmy.

The MIDI files play fine on my MarkII XG. However, my usuaul
sequencer software (Power Tarcks) does not recognize the files. It
appears that the files contain 'extra' data or the files use a non-
standard data format not recognized by all MIDI palyers and/or
sequencer software.

If you want, I can try converting the files from ".MID" to ".FIL"
and email them to you. If interested, send me an email.

Regards,

Robert

Jimmy, Sergy,

I had the same problem. I can open it and play it with Cakewalk Home Studio 2002. However, there are problems. I can't get the piano part to play properly on the Disklavier. I told Cakewalk to play Track 9, which is the piano part on Channel 1 so it would play on my piano. It only plays some of the notes. I tried to open the tracks in Staff view but it would not open. I got an error message that said "The Staff View cannot handle meters that are longer than 16 quarter notes." I noticed that on the piano roll view, there were no pedal commands and that the notes are held very long. This was clearly made for midi equipment that cannot handle sustain pedal commands. Another site that has a lot of midi files with this same sustain problem is parlorsongs.com Too bad, it's just no good for Diskalviers. Maybe you could contact the Sciortino guy and ask him if it can be fixed somehow. I would be interested in how you make out with this.

Hi Pianobench,

The files in question are:
http://www.sciortino.net/music/midi/svr/svr030a.mid
http://www.sciortino.net/music/midi/svr/svr030b.mid
http://www.sciortino.net/music/midi/svr/svr030c.mid

None of these play properly, although they appear to contain valid midi
data at a first glance (possibly incorrectly uploaded with an FTP tool?).
The files were linked from http://www.sciortino.net/music/svr.html (Piano
Concerto No.3 in D minor)

Cheers,

James

Hi All

Is this some morbid exercise or are these files so wonderful we can't
like without them.
Surley there are others midi files of Rach out there.
I have Rach 3 but can't upload it to the group because it is full.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
