For some reason midi songs that I downloaded from the Internet played
perfectly yesterday but today they all say unformatted disk when I put them in my
Disklavier GranTouch-DGT2IIXG with a DKC500R control unit. Does anyone know what
I could do to correct this?

Hi

1 Were they downloaded from Yamaha? If so then a PC will see the disk
as unformatted but the DKV should read it ok.

2 Re-copy the files onto a new floppy and try again.

3 Has it been anywhere near a big magnet?

4 Re-download them to a new floppy disk.

Hi Midi Magic-thanks for replying concerning my disk problems.

1.The files were not downloaded from Yamaha. They came from various sites
plus some came from some software on my computor-such as ther Jazz Pianist. None
will play anymore except the PianoSoft disks I got with my piano.

2. I tried to copy them on the GranTouch but it still says unformatted disk.

3. It has not been near a large magnet as far as I know.

4. I went to some of the places where I had downloaded them and tried to do
it again and sometimes the disks I used {Sony, etc.] worked and sometimes they
didn't. The blank disks I bought from Yamaha work perfectly.

Hi

Sorry to hear you still have problems.

As the DKV will play your Pianosoft disk ok then we can asume the
floppy drive is ok. If you still have the files on your PC then I
would format some new floppies in the DKV. Some drives are sometimes
slightly out of true and the pre-formatted ones may not exactly match
the DKV. So by formatting the floppies on the DKV and then copying
the files again may help.

BTW can you read the bad floppies on the PC?

Unformatted disk

2004-01-24 by stewholveck@aol.com

For one day everything started to work perfectly again. Then I pushed the
play and the on button to see if I needed an update and it said I needed an
update to 1.44. I downloaded the update from the Yamaha site and now it won't
play any disks except the Pianosoft. I formatted a floppy on tyhe DKV and then
tried to copy another disk on my computor but it re-formatted before copying
and will not play on the DKV. All the bad floppies can be read on my PC.
