QRS MIDI player systems

QRS MIDI player systems

2004-09-15 by Carol Beigel

You can get a lot in information from the QRS website
at: www.qrsmusic.com
You can also download the owner's manuals, and you will
see that the Chili system also plays MIDI files burned
to a CD. They also give good comparisions of the
systems they have available. Baldwin is out of
business. When they went under, they owed QRS
Pianomation a LOT of money, therefore QRS Pianomation
is reluctant to give much technical support or parts
for Concert Master systems. My experience with the
company who bought Baldwin, Gibson music (guitars) is
that their Baldwin tech support is virtually non
existent. I still recommend that you just call up QRS
Pianomation in Pennsyvania and just deal directly with
them. If you must go through a dealer, at least send
the piano to the factory to get the best installation.
I have been to their factory, received their training,
and am considered a QRS tech. Still, when it comes to
Steinways, the trapwork (pedal mechanism) must be VERY
CAREFULLY dealt with, otherwise it never works well. A
slot must be cut into the keybed to install the
solenoids, and unfortunately, on a Steinway the ideal
spot is in the middle of the pedal lyre. However, I
believe QRS makes a special, low-hung solenoid rail
just for this purpose. The nice thing about a QRS
system (not a Concert master) is that QRS is constantly
upgrading their stuff, and you can always get parts and
technical support.
