Hi,

I am new to the group and new to Disklavier. I have been admiring
these wonderful pianos since I tried to find the piano player I
listened to throughout dinner at a restaurant in the late 80's only
to find there wasn't one!

I have purchased a preowned M100 II and it will be moved by a
reputable piano mover within the next 20 days to my home.

Is there a reference on your site or could you summarize in a
nutshell exactly how the data files here get onto a floppy for use in
the Disklavier? I know the early units like the M100 II use an older
style 720K double density diskette and I do not think I own a
computer anymore that will write one!

This would be good information for the files area at the top of the
list.

Thanks for assisting the new guy,

Regards,

Mike

Thank you very much! I have a home in Lutherville Maryland but we are moving to Chicago for my work. The Disklavier will be in Chicago. Do you know of an associate in the Schaumburg area that you could recommend for tuning, service, etc.

I have an engineering background and so I also have a keen interest in the electronic and electromechanical systems in the disklavier. I have a technical manual on the way for the M100 II which should provide very interesting reading. Your web site will take many evenings to digest but also looks full of usefull information.

Regards,

Mike

Hello all. New member here and I'm really enjoying reading over the message databases. I have a 2003 Disklavier (sales receipt says model DC1HPM) conservatory model in a walnut case. Upgraded from the Mark III (? DKC55RCD on front) controller to the DKC 850 and subscribe to Disklavier Radio. I enjoy the Disklavier Radio feature but really hate having to re-enter my password several times per year. If anyone knows what I'm doing that triggers having to re-enter the user id and password please let me know - I really despise having to do this! :-) I'm also wondering whether a USB keyboard plugged into the front port would function properly and make this task easier. Anyone out there know???

I've already learned things about the piano I didn't already know, thanks to discussions here. For instance, I didn't know that the DKC 850 would allow me to upload directly to it through the network. After reading that it was possible I easily "mounted" the piano as a disk drive through the network and can copy files directly to it. Neato!!!

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments. It sure looks as if I have a lot more reading to do!

Just be sure to use DisklavierRadio at least once a month and you won't have log in more than the first time.

Thanks Bill. I'll try to be more consistent in logging in from now on. :-) Seems like things in life just take up all available time every so often.

Re: [disklavier] Re: New Member

I was reading this thread yesterday and thought, "have I logged in the last month?"

Sure enough, my password and email was reset. It took me about 10 minutes to put back in using the up/down arrows on the remote. (Love most aspects of the disklavier, but this reset feature and interface is horrible).

Thanks for the tip! I've set myself a reminder to log in every two weeks minimum. :)

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
