Unable to play downloaded files- help!

Unable to play downloaded files- help!

2005-04-15 by r99hawk

Hi everyone.
I am a newbie to this site and downloaded some midi files from here.
Unfortunately when I put them in my disklavier it gives me the
message "disc not formatted". I had formatted them on the computer and
then did the download to the disc.

Is there some procedure problem I am missing here??

Thanks for any advice or help.

Oh, the unit is a MX-100 on the U-1. It is a used unit from early
2000's.
Thanks,
Rob G.

It may be older than that! It it an XG system? If so,
then and HD floppy should work with an IBM format. If
it is a MX100II and NOT an XG system, then you need to
jump through lots of extra hoops. What is the control
box model?

Do Yamaha PianoSoft disks work?

Yes it does play the PianoSoft discs fine. On one of the discs that
I downloaded recordings in MID format extension to I re-formatted it
right on the disklavier and recorded a song on the unit fine. I then
tried to listen to that recording on the computer and it told me that
the disk was not formatted on the computer. The PianoSoft discs on
the computer gives the same message.
The unit is built into the piano and the manual says that it is a
MX100.

Does that help??
Rob

Carol;
Kick me for this but ... My Yamaha is a 1990's unit not 2000's unit
as I had initially typed (oops!!). I see from other digging that
that vintage needs firstly 2DD discs and the Yamaha site that your
web site link directed me to also has another version of download
software for that vintage of the MX100.

So sorry!
Thanks for youe efforts. I will try tho get the 2DD discs and see
what happens.

Cheers,
Rob
