I have the opporitunity to buy a new Yamaha disklavier GranTouch DGT2IIXG thaat has sat on the dealers showroom floor for the past several years. His asking proice is $8,500.00. Is this a good price? It is an old model with only floppy disc and no CD.

That's about what I paid for a brand new one in the late 90's. I would suspect you could negotiate that lower or find one for less elsewhere or on the used market. What is the market price of the new ones with CD capability and the latest electronics? Todd Muncy http://MuncyFamily.com

Just one man's opinion and my apologies to those I offend--I wouldn't recommend a GranTouch at any price. Here's a second man's opinion agreeing with one man's opinion. The dealer I first spoke to tried to sell me one. Sure is pretty. But it is not a piano. I hear they are great if you want to haul a piano look-alike to weddings, etc. I put that kind of money into a MX100XGII with upgraded memory and powered speakers and I have a real piano. A Disklavier with the Silent System will let you turn off the acoustic sound and listen to the digital sound through headphones or speakers, yet have the acoustic sound when you need it. Re tuning, my MX100XGII requires very little tuning. In fact, I put off getting it tuned for two years after buying it. When the tuner came out, he was amazed at how well it had held tune, especially since it had been moved from a showroom to my home since it was last tuned. I bought mine because I enjoy piano music and wanted something better than recordings played through speakers. My daughter who plays had moved out so a Disklavier was the next best thing.
