Hello all, We are new to player pianos, but do have good computer knowledge. Our Player system moves the keys with the disks (commercial) we received with the piano, but the midi files we have downloaded and copied to diskette do not? We have tried to change track, and SMF types 0-1. Probaby could stumble through it some more and find the answer, but thought we could save some time by asking the group of knowledgable owners what we are doing wrong. The midi files we have downloaded are supposedly for the disklavier, so they should have the info required for the keys to move? Thanks for helping.

Has your piano the silent feature? Is the silent pedal ON of OFF? Sometimes this happens to me; I spent some time finding the cause of the problem. --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, "thison_90" <thison_90@y...> wrote: > > Hello all, > > We are new to player pianos, but do have good computer knowledge. It does have the silent feature, but it is not ON, since the keys and everything works when we use a purchased disk, just the keys don't move with the midi files I have downloaded and written to a disk. Thanks, though, any other suggestions? I think it must be something to do with the way the files are being put on the disk? --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, "Jorge Fernandez" <jorgefedez@g...> wrote: > > Has your piano the silent feature? > Is the silent pedal ON of OFF? > > Sometimes this happens to me; I spent some time finding the cause of > the problem. > > --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, "thison_90" <thison_90@y...> > wrote: > > > > Hello all, > > > > We are new to player pianos, but do have good computer knowledge. > Our > > Player system moves the keys with the disks (commercial) we > received > > with the piano, but the midi files we have downloaded and copied > to > > diskette do not? > > > > We have tried to change track, and SMF types 0-1. The key movement is controlled by whatever MIDI information is contained on Channels 1 and 2 of the data file. The settings for this are covered in the Advanced section of your owner's manual under "Import Files". A quick way to see what is happening is to press the -> while the file is playing. The window you see tells it all. Where there are blinking lights, those are the channels that contain the MIDI information. You will also see something at the top like L=1 and perhaps R=##. That is part of the problem. R=2 or Prg. Use the function keys to set this under Piano Part. The big circles represent L and R, so there is usually a big circle on channel 1which is L. For MIDI files you obtain that were not created for keyboard or no information for channel 1 or 2, use the GNMIDI program option to "create PianoDisc" or something like that. It creates a MIDI 0 file that puts all the data on Channel 1. Hope this helps. Thany you Carol! The settings in the Disklavier were L-## & R=##, after I changed all worked perfect. Thanks again, and yes, it was in the book, I just didn't know where exactly the problem was. --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, "Carol Beigel" <thecarolb@c...> wrote: > > The key movement is controlled by whatever MIDI information is contained on > Channels 1 and 2 of the data file.
