Need Metronome for Disklavier

Need Metronome for Disklavier

2006-04-09 by Sterling Lovehammer

Can anyone recommend a metronome that might be compatible with the
Disklavier Mark IV? I know some older versions had built in
metronomes, but the Mark IV apparently does not. And I was hoping
there might be something that would work though the disklavier's
headphones as well.

According to an e-mail that I received in early March from Bill Brandom
of Yamaha USA, the next firmware upgrade (version 1.20) for the Mark IV
will contain the following new features:

- Multi-track recording
- Overdub
- Track move, copy, delete, mix, and transpose
- Metronome function
- Vocal harmony improvements
- Quantize function
- Timer play
- Controller pedal functionality
- Analog MIDI
- FD format
and a few others...

Since this firmware update is due sometime in May and will apparently
include a Metronome function, you may wish to delay your purchase of a
metronome until you see this update. While I use a stand alone
metronome now with my Mark IV, I am not aware of any metronome
specifically designed to work through the disklavier's electronics.

Well that's good news. Thanks for the timely reply on the
metronome. I guess I just have to wait about a month then. I
heard they are going to permit computer access to the hard drive in
this upgrade also. It will be possible, I understand, to have a
computer connected to another disklavier user with same hookup, and
then play each other's pianos. This will be useful for internet
lessons with webcam. What's next?!

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
