RootARipper

2007-02-03 by ralph_specht

Just started using this fantastic utility to backup my Disklavier
Floppies. I noticed that the utility does not create a separate
directory for each floppy.

When people use this utility, do you create all the directories first,
and then use the utility.

Would it be possible for the utility to create a unique directory?
Don't know if the title of the floppy is written on the floppy but that
would be my choice. Then in order to re-create a damage floppy, you
could then quickly locate the appropriate directory.

If I am not using the utility properly, I apologize to the group.

Hi Ralph

I have had a word with the guy who wrote RootaRipper and here are
his answers.

YES.

> Would it be possible for the utility to create a unique directory?

Sure (for a price)
...I guess that's a "no"

I suppose the "Browse for Folder" dialog should have a "Make New
Folder" button. That might be easy - not sure.

Unfortunately, there is no volume label on the PianoDisk. Also, if I
were to parse the pianodir.fil for the title, it would no longer be
a "generic disk recovery tool" and I may be scrutinized legally.

Hope this helps

I would like to use rootaripper but don't understand how to do it.
Downloading the zip file and executing it creates a folder. What is
next? I have a USB floppy drive but XP says that the diskette is
unformatted. Is there more documentation on the DKV site? Thanks in
advance.

Please disregard my previous posting of this morning.

I am trying to use this program to copy Yamaha eseq diskettes to my
hard drive to be used with a jukebox program. Rootaripper works fine
when reading diskettes that were originaly created using the DKV
utilities years ago. My XP system wants to format the new Yamaha
diskettes.

Some of the messages I have read say that the software works. I must be
doing something wrong.

Thanks in advance.
Don
