New original compositions uploaded

2007-02-17 by davbrdavbr

Hi, everyone. I just uploaded a zip file of 3 of my compositions to
the Files section of this group, under "All new uploads go here",
called Broman.zip. The style is similar to melodic New Age. If you
like what you hear, I'd love it if you'd check out my new album:

http://myspace.com/starfishing3ft

The album contains MIDI files for every track, so you can listen to
the songs on your stereo... or on your piano! It also has printable
sheet music for three of the songs.

Enjoy!

david,

the midis are lovely and am listening to them on my mark iv this evening during dinner.
please excuse my typing as i broke wrist and back an am having to hunt and peck the
keyboard. it was worth the trek downstairs this morn to put the midis on a floppy and a
good exercise for me at this time of recovery.

the first two midis did not have an assignment for the channels and had to do this once
loaded onto my dislavier hard drive using the pda to assign track or channel 1 to channel.
then they worked great.

are the other songs on the album you are selling piano solos ?

i am interested in buying the album and keep me in mind if you have other albums
available in the future.

thanks for the lovely music. well done and would certainly reccommend others to listen to
the midis.

thanks,
joan

[disklavier] Re: New original compositions uploaded

2007-02-23 by David Broman

Hello Joan, and thanks for the feedback! The songs I uploaded were recorded on a Disklavier IIXG Pro (but without the extra pro XP data). I don't believe there is a way to mark the MIDI file to force the piano to play a particular track. I think that can only be done from the piano itself, as you have done. In other words, I believe this is a setting of the piano, and not of the MIDI file. Though if you know of a way, please let me know! I chose channel 1 for the piano since that seems to be the default on the piano, so I figured it should work for most people.

All the tracks on the CD are solo piano, except for one (Morning Rain), which is primarily piano but with backing orchestral instruments. The MIDI for Morning Rain contains only the piano part, but I believe it's full enough that the piano stands on its own for that piece. If you'd like to buy the album it is available for sale now from http://amazon.com, http://cdbaby.com (which also has previews of all the tracks), and other web sites. You can find direct links on where to buy it from here:

Sorry to hear about your wrist. Hope you heal quickly!

RE: [disklavier] Re: New original compositions uploaded

2007-02-23 by David Broman

Thank you, and it's so great to hear comments on the music! Right now, the only way to purchase the songs is to buy the CD from retailers. You can then copy the MIDIs from the CD onto your own floppy for playback on your piano.

I hadn't considered a MIDI-only distribution. I'd expect the audience for that would be much smaller than for what I'm doing now (a traditional CD with MIDIs available when you insert it into a computer's CD-ROM drive). But you never know-- it's hard to predict these things.

Thanks again!
